You want to select the weight based on the depth of water you're fishing and how fast you want to the plastic to sink. For example if you're fishing water over 4 metres you might want a 1/2oz or heavier jighead, while if you're fishing water under 2 metres you may opt for a lighter 1/8thoz jighead. The size of your plastic also influences the hook size in your jighead, with a larger size plastic requiring a larger size hook.
