Hi I purchased a
I purchased a LD35JH ON THE 12/6/24 AND BY THE 21/9/24 (13 weeks) in which time I had only used in saltwater on 2x 3 day trips on the barrier reef. I took it in to the shop I bought it from because it was difficult to wind almost seized. On the 1/11/24 (39 days ) later I got a bill for $130 and returned 7 bearings , 5 of which were fully seized. Now these are supposed to me magseal bearings? I have noticed the free running spool does not seem as smooth as was.
My previous reel a daiwa z30 was looked after the exact same way and did not need any servicing for 5yrs or more, I got it back from servicing, 1 month before I purchased the LD35JH and have used it at least on 2 more trips and it still works perfectly, each time the LD35JH was used my friend was using the z30 it still works fine and has been looked after the same way. Neither reel has ever been submerged or engulfed by a wave or constant heavy spray. I was washing my reels under a no pressure gravity fed shower head and leaving to dry holes down on a flat surface and then later putting into a rod rack. I have since watched all Daiwa and Shimano reel washing clips available.
I have 2x friends that was had the same experience of very short owner shim and use with the result of seized bearings and being billed when they were expecting warranty.
I am tempted to treat the reel the same as I always have to see if this is a lack of factory lubrication issue with poor admission of liability regarding the charge.
Either way I am requesting an inquiry from Daiwa and would like you to put your self in my shoes and friends with similar experiences. I do expect a reply. Luckily my local table shop supplied me with a loan reel.
