The new and previous Saltiga 12 line is the same thickness for its breaking strain. Daiwa is a Japanese company and Saltiga 12 is made in Japan. The Japanese measurement of line thickness is PE rating, not mm or inches. It's the same concept as metric and imperial and miles and kilometres in different countries.
