It's more designed as a long casting soft plastics rod due to its taper (fast) and length (over 7 foot). If you were using crankbaits I would suggest a regular taper rod or if fishing jerkbaits a shorter rod. Due to the predominate rod down movement of the rod when fishing a jerkbait a shorter rod is better other wise you end up hitting the water with your rod tip.
