A PE rating is a rating on line thickness while a rating such as kg is rating based on the breaking rate of the line. There isn't really a guide that I can give you. However keep in mind that higher end lines (e.g. 8 and 12 strain lines) usually have a higher breaking strain than lower end lines that has the same thickness. For example J-Braid Expedition in PE 1 is 12lb while J-Braid X4 in PE 1 is 8lb. Hope this helps.
