That really depends on how much you use it and how you look after it. Personally I'd place a drop of oil on the roller bearing and handle xxxx every 6 months and I'd look at getting it serviced every 2 years. Of course if the reels starts to feel less than optimal in its feel and function or it gets exposed (e.g. dropped in, or heavily exposed to water) to the elements I'd then get it serviced.
