The primary difference between the Ex and Z series is the blank and guide train. The Ex is our top shelf Infeet range and features our lightest most responsive blank (SVF Nano) and our lightest most sensitive guides (AGS). The Z range is a step down and features HVF Nanoplus blanks and Fuji titanium (on the tip) and stainless steel SiC guides. Both the Ex and Z are excellent finesse light tackle rods designed with bream angling and bream techniques in mind.
My recommendation is that the Ex range is for those that want the very best that Daiwa make, or high skilled bream anglers who can take full advantage of the design features and performance of the series. In contrast I'd recommend the Z series as the range for the intermediate breamer looking for a rod range that will maximise their angler experience and performance. My suggestion for you would be the Z range and choose the model/s that's suited to the techniques that you use.
I hope this helps in your selection. Feel free to ask additional questions if you like.
