I would recommend one of the TD Hyper rods (MSRP $150), 701MLXS or the 762MHFS, Team Daiwa Black 762MHFS (MSRP $239). I do use a Rebellion 742MLFS for throwing spoons and it's an awesome rod (MSRP $299), though it's a bit more expensive than your target spend.
