There certainly are but they’re not complex to understand or find. The answer to the previous question ‘where can I fish’ focused on location. Checking for signage is the easiest way to determine if you can fish an area.
The other important rule is to clue yourself up on fish size and bag limits. Fish stocks are managed by State Fisheries Departments with most fish species having limits on the number of fish that you can take (keep) plus the minimum, and sometimes maximum size, that fish species have to be to keep them.
Fish size and bag limits are easy to find - online (search for your State’s fish size and bag limits), on signage at some high traffic fishing locations such as jetties and boat ramps, and often available as fliers and documentation at fishing tackle stores.
Some States also require a fishing license, refer to your State’s Fisheries Department website for further information on licences and other rules and considerations around fishing:
